Current Research
My current research focuses on physiological research as it can be applied to genetic conservation, forest restoration, forest reponses to climate change, and forest management along with longleaf pine carbon sequestration and restoration, and forest responses to elevated CO2.
Research Interests
Providing presentations and public outreach is also an important part of my research. This presentation "Longleaf Pine Management in Light of Climate Change" was presented in 2014 at the First Fridays All Climate Change Talks (FFACCTs). Research Highlights
- Quantifying and Managing Carbon Sequestration in Longleaf Pine Ccosystems. (2014)
-
Forests can offset greenhouse gas emissions by sequestering carbon dioxide in tree biomass, understory vegetation, forest floor litter, detritus, soils and wood products. In partnership with Auburn University and the University of Florida, Forest Service scientists are assessing soil carbon pools and above and below-ground productivity in longleaf pine stands to create modeling tools for carbon management.
