This is a book that I co-edited with Jim Vose, who is also a scientist in the Southern Research Station. Really, there's no greater challenge that is faced by forest managers in the South and indeed throughout the world than the changes that are going to be brought about by changing climate. And in the Forest Service our role is really not to measure climate change, or to predict the degree to which climate will warm or precipitation may change. Really our job is to get into the hands of managers tools for adapting to and even mitigating some of the effects of climate change. So this volume really is very focused practically on applications of the science to forest management in the face of a changing climate.
