A visitation-based profile of agritourism farms in Missouri

Informally Refereed

Abstract

We conducted a survey in 2008 to examine the farmland physical characteristics, operator attributes, agritourism offerings, and business operations associated with different levels of visitation on agritourism farms. Responses from 164 agritourism farms show that the majority are family-owned and family-operated and are located in rural areas. In addition to providing for visitors, agricultural production remains a priority on most farms.
