Abstract
Extensive, unprecedented wilt and mortality of the highly invasive, exotic tree-of-heaven (
Ailanthus altissima) occurred recently within mixed hardwood forests in south-central Pennsylvania. Until this study, the cause of the epidemic was unknown.
