Abstract
This report highlights the principal findings of the fifth inventory of South Carolina's forests. Fieldwork began in April 1977 and was completed in August 1978. Four previous statewide inventories, completed in 1936, 1947, 19.58, and 1968, provide statistics for measuring changes and trends over the past 42 years. The primary emphasis in this report is on the changes and rends since 1968. Previously reported figures have been adjusted to provide the best estimate of change.
