Research results from the Upland Hardwood Ecology and Management RWU 4157 are disseminated to forest resource professionals and to the public through peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, the Compass (a quarterly magazine published by the Forest Service Southern Research Station), presentations at scientific conferences and to interested groups, guided tours, workshops on state-of-the-art forest management practices in Southern Appalachian Highland forests, and through the Forest Encyclopedia.
RWU 4157 scientists and collaborators have authored or co-authored hundreds of publications on forest management, and on forest and wildlife ecology of the central hardwoods region, dating from the 1930s. Most publications relating to uplands hardwood ecology written by RWU 4157 scientists or partners are available at our SRS publications website, or can be ordered by sending your name and complete mailing address, title, author, and publication number (for example, GTR-55) to: pubrequest@fs.fed.us.
