Abstract:: This data set identifies the extent of water quality assessment of rivers and streams as reported by each of the Southern states in semi-annual reports (State 305(b) Reports) from 1988 to 1998. The semi-annual data identifies the total miles of rivers and streams that are assessed and the causes (pollutants) and sources (land use activities) that contribute to the impairment of water quality.
Purpose:: This data set identifies the extent of water quality degradation, by year, attributed to various causes (pollutants) and sources (land use activities) in each of the Southern states. This is the raw data compiled from National Water Quality Inventory Reports that formed the basis for Table 4 and Figures 1, 2, and 3 of the Southern Forest Resource Assessment Technical Report.
