Water table data from 1970 shows the rise due to harvesting in the control (clearcut followed by chopping and burning site prep) and bedded treatments. Water table wells were randomly installed across the treatments, so some were on top of beds, some in the furrows, and every position in between. This graph shows that, on average, water tables in bedded sites are no different from those in flat planted sites (the control).
Water tables in the ditched treatment behaved similarly to the uncut reference site.
