Current Research:

Landscape ecology and development of analytical inventory, and monitoring techniques to satisfy multi-objective, "ecological" forest resources assessments.Protocols include ecoregion appraisals, GIS, geostatistics, nonparametric statistics, and regional mapping; inventories of human impact indicators (forest fragmentation, human-generated litter, livestock use,non-native and invasive plants, posted signs, prescribed fire, and other indicators of forest use), and estimation of regional accessibility, aesthetics, forest community types, old growth, recreation opportunities, and wildlife habitats.

Ouachita/Ozark Highlands: Psychological and scenic beauty assessments of forest scenes; visual quality effects of silvicultural treatments and digital image processing and forest structure pattern recognition.Others: habitat characterization of sensitive and endangered wildlife; nonmarket valuation of forest resources; sociology of multi-objective forest land ownership; and urbanization impacts on timber resource supplies.
