Current Research: |
| Estimation methods for the Forest Inventory and Analysis Program's (FIA) Annual Forest Inventory sample design. Estimation of forest attributes and the dynamics of those attributes are explored. A sub-area of this research involves small-area estimation methods for the FIA design. "Small" can be defined geographically, temporally or categorically. The area is small if, in and of itself, it would contain insufficient sample information for estimation. These methods use various distance measures to reach out for information from adjacent areas by modeling through the space-time continuum. |
Collaborative Research: |
| Due to the temporally dispersed nature of data from the SAFIS design, collaboration with growth and yield researchers within the Forest Service would be especially helpful. |
