- Developing and testing new methods for defining economic dependence on recreation and tourism
- Understanding and modeling trip spending patterns of outdoor recreation participants
- Examine methods to characterize recreation supply and assess the role of such natural resource amenities in rural development
- Evaluating the effects of the Forest Service's Rural Community Assistance Program

- Assessing the economic impacts and value of mountain biking at the Tsali Recreation Area in Western North Carolina
- Evaluating various social and economic characteristics of recreation-dependent, rural counties in the U.S.
- Testing various methods to approximate confidence intervals for economic impacts of recreation and tourist visitation
- Modeling spending patterns of visitors to the Florida Keys
