Recreation - Fishing
The lakes, streams, and rivers of the Daniel Boone National Forest are
for your use and enjoyment. All fishing within the Daniel Boone National
Forest must be done in accordance with Kentucky laws and regulations
(available at Ky. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
Resources). State fishing licenses are required to fish on the national
forest and may be acquired at stores in the area. Trout fishing requires
a trout stamp.
Trout Fishing Creeks:
- East Fork of Indian Creek in Menifee County, north of the Red
River Gorge Geological Area, off Ky. 77 on Forest Service Road 9B.

- Cane Creek and Hawk Creek are both in Laurel
County. Cane Creek is off KY 192, reached via Forest Service Road
121 in the Cane Creek Wildlife Management Area. Hawk Creek is west
of Bernstadt, on Forest Service Road 4094, off Ky. 1956. Call the London
District Office at (606) 864-4163.
- Bark Camp Creek in Whitley County, is south of Laurel
River Lake,
off Ky. 1277, reached via Forest Service Road 193. Call the London
District Office at (606) 864-4163.
- Rock Creek in
McCreary County. Forest Service Road 137 parallels the creek and there
are two U.S. Forest Service campgrounds almost within casting distance
of the water. Call the Stearns
district office at (606) 376-5323.
- War Fork Creek above Turkeyfoot Campground. Call the London
District Office at (606) 864-4163.
Other excellent fishing lakes include Cave
Run Lake on Morehead
District,
Laurel River Lake (trout
fishing) on London
District, and Lake
Cumberland on Somerset
District.
