| Description: | Abstract - Highlights of the seventh forest survey of Arkansas are presented. Key elements important in assessing the sustainability of the forest resource are discussed. These include forest area, volume, growth, removals, and status of softwood plantations. Forest area and volumes appear stable or increasing or both. However, the amount of harvested acreage is high, and prompt and adequate stand regeneration after harvest will become more important in helping to meet the sustainability goals of the State. |
