Description: In 1948 a study of uneven-aged forest management, with individual tree-selection cuttings, was begun on two 31-acre stands of Appalachian hardwoods in West Virginia. Now, after 20 years, these stands are beginning to show how this kind of management affects growth, yield, and species composition.
