As part of the Nation's largest forestry research organization, the Southern Research Station conducts research through units located across the 13 Southern Stations. Its staff of 130 scientists excel in studies on temperate and tropical forests, forest resources, and forest products-as well as forest hydrology, economics, recreation trends, threatened and endangered species, to name a very few.
