SRS Acquisition Manager Receives National Award

Bruce Hall, Recepient of the Forest Service’s Excellence in Acquisition Management AwardBy Stevin Westcott, Press Officer, Southern Research Station
June 15, 2010

Southern Research Station (SRS) Group Leader of Acquisition Management Bruce Hall is among six employees honored with the Forest Service's Excellence in Acquisition Management Awards Program for Fiscal Year 2009. Hall was selected as the Supervisory Acquisition Management Professional of the Year for his role at SRS in integrating Grants & Agreements with SRS Acquisition Staff, piloting Lean Six Sigma Transaction Processing, and implementing process efficiencies that lowered the average cost per acquisition action. He is responsible for managing SRS assets valued at more than $125 million.

Hall has had a number of accomplishments in the past couple years. For example, his "lead by example" management style motivated 30 percent of his office to become involved in the AQM 2011 efforts in all three areas: asset management, contracting, and grants & agreements. This is the highest percentage of staff support of any field office in the Forest Service.

Last year, Hall received the Deputy Chief of Business Operations Award for Excellence in Providing Business Operations Support. Also in 2009, the SRS manager was awarded the USDA Small Business special Achievement Award.
