Upland Hardwood Silviculture Course for Practicing Foresters
July 19, 2010 - July 23, 2010
If you are a practicing forester, check out the upland hardwood silviculture course offered at Bent Creek Experimental Forest July 19-23.
The registration cut-off date is July 2, and tuition is $75. For more information, contact the Bent Creek Experimental Forest Science Delivery office at 828-667-5261, extension 104. You can also get information by writing Julia Murphy at juliamurphy@fs.fed.us.
Each year the Upland Hardwood Ecology and Management unit www.srs.fs.usda.gov/uplandhardwood of the Southern Research Station offers a week-long course that features lectures and hands-on field exercises.
The goal of this course is to provide practicing foresters with information about current silvicultural practices and emerging issues based on scientific research that affects managing upland hardwoods.
The course is designed for professional foresters working in upland hardwood systems.
Wildlife professionals and natural resources managers from State and Federal agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and educators may also attend, with the prerequisite that they must be familiar with forestry terminology.
Participants usually number approximately 25 students. The Society of American Foresters issues continuing forestry education credits for the course.
