Downloadable Programs

Our unit sometimes produces products that are in computer-readable form.  While, we can supply this information upon request, it might be you more convenient if some of it was accessible at any time, even when we are not in the office.  To this end we are providing the following downloadable resources.

COMPUTE SBP-LOB :  A zip-compressed file with the insatalltion package for a new Windows Visual BASIC version of P-LOB that also predicts tha southern pine beetle hazard rating.  The old FORTRAN code for the original version is still available by request.

COMPUTE P-SLASH :  A zip-compressed file with the source and executable code for the slash pine plantation growth and yield simulator whose model is described in Research Paper SO-264 , Growth and Yield Predictions for Thinned and Unthinned Slash Pine Plantations on Cutover Sites in the West Gulf Region.

PINEVOL ;  This is a program to calculate the volume of several species of southern pine trees with varaible specifications.  This is a full Windows setup package (unzip the file and run setup) that includes easy installation, a help file, and documentation.  If you try it please send comments to dleduc@fs.fed.us

Presentations

Prescribed Burning Presentation by James Haywood and Finis Harris is available as a Powerpoint® presentation (14 MB) with included speaker notes.  We realize that this is a large download for many people so we will also make this presentation available on a CD upon request to Dr. Haywood.   The script for this presentation is also available as a text file.

This is all that we have available as a unit, but you may also be interested in the publications that are available directly from the headquarters of the Southern Research Station .
