The Fire and Fire Surrogate (FFS) study being conducted by the USDA Forest Service, cooperators at Clemson University, and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is part of a national network of research sites examining the effects of fuel reduction techniques on ecosystem processes. This web site provides information about the location, experimental design, and progress of research for the FFS Southern Appalachian Mountains study site at Green River, North Carolina. The intent of this site is to inform the public about the importance of this research and to encourage interested persons to contact the site manager.
