Symposium on Ecosystem Management Research
in the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains

The Symposium will be held at the beautiful and historic Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa, located at 239 Central Avenue in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. For more information about the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa, please visit their web site at www.arlingtonhotel.com.

A block of rooms has been reserved for symposium participants and attendees for evenings of October 25-28. When making reservations, cite the block entitled U.S. Forest Service. Room rates negotiated in February 1999 were $55.00/night, plus tax. Rooms can be reserved by calling the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa at 501-623-7771, or outside Arkansas by dialing 1-800-643-1502.

Note: The $55 rate was within the reimbursable limit at the time the contract with the motel was arranged, but since then the reimbursable rate for Hot Springs has been reduced to $50/night. The Southern Research Station has written a letter to authorize reimbursement for actual subsistence at the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa. We encourage all attendees to stay at the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa. Organizers feel strongly that the opportunities for after-hours discussions and meetings among attendees will be among the great advantages of the meeting.

If you’re flying: Major airlines and rental car companies serve the Little Rock National Airport. A shuttle service, the Hot Springs-Little Rock Airport Shuttle, is available at additional charge by calling 1-800-643-1505, or 501-321-9911. Alternatively, several commuter airlines fly directly to the Hot Springs Memorial Airport.

If you’re driving: From Little Rock, Hot Springs is a pleasant 53-mile drive. Take I-30 West to Arkansas Highway 70 West (exit 111). Take 70W to Highway 7 (Central Avenue) in Hot Springs. Turn North (right) on Highway 7, and continue past Bathhouse Row; the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa is immediately past Bathhouse Row. From Texarkana: Take I-30 North to Arkadelphia (Exit 78). Turn North onto scenic Arkansas Highway 7. Follow Highway 7 through Hot Springs to Bathhouse Row; the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa is immediately past Bathhouse Row.
