Quarterly Report of Timber Products
Published by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, this regular newsletter reports prices for five areas of the state. Note that prices reflect total volume and total value ratios paid from bid and negotiated sales, and do not represent inter or intra-company transactions and long-term contracts. The report: (1) provides a guide for private timber owners in determining stumpage prices regionally or stateside, (2) establishes annual stumpage price figures for severance tax purposes, and (3) determines the timber value for use-value assessment of forest land.

Stumpage Price Report
This series of reports, updated quarterly, summarizes bid prices from State Forest timber sales. The data in the Average Stumpage Price Report are is used to provide DNR staff base information for determining a minimum acceptable bid for future timber sales. A separate report lists bids for the individual sales, again from State Forest timber sales. The Bid Summary Reports can be viewed here.

The State Forest is located north of a line from Bay City to Ludington.  There is no published price data available from the private lands in southern Michigan.  Calling a local sawmill for prices on delivered timber is the best source of information.  Sawmills can be found in the Michigan Forest Products Directory at www.michigan.gov/wood.

Texas:

Texas Timber Price Trends
Timber Price Trends Report is a bimonthly publication of the Texas A &M Forest Service reporting average prices paid for standing timber, commonly called the "stumpage price." Average stumpage prices are calculated from actual timber sales as reported by more than 60 cooperators active in the East Texas timber market. Values are weighted by volume sold to filter out the effect that size of sale has on price paid. Thus, the average price reported is the average price paid per unit of wood, NOT per average timber sale. Price series for five or more product categories are reported for two reporting regions from eastern Texas and extending back to 1984.

Vermont Stumpage Report
The Vermont Division of Forestry's  quarterly Vermont Stumpage Report  continues the report that was published for many years by UVM Extension, but ceased publication in 2007.  The quarterly report, resumed in the first quarter of 2012, lists stumpage prices for various products and species for three state regions.  The number of responses are listed for each species and product within each region.  It does not report on log, pulpwood, firewood, or fuelwood prices.   Log prices are published by Northern Woodlands magazine as well as the Sawlog Bulletin.  Both cover the Northern New England region plus northeastern New York.
