Investigators:

David H. Newman and Ted Gragson, University of Georgia
Description:
This research investigates land use change and patterns of development in the Southern Appalachians. As part of the Coweeta Long Term Ecological Research Site, this interdisciplinary effort allows for the study of effects of current and forecasted land use on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in detail. Research has generated new models for measuring and estimating land use which incorporate the influence of human presence. New methods for evaluating forecast performance have also been developed.
