Timber supply is the sum of individual timber harvesting decisions within a region. Partly because of data availability and modeling complexity, much research has focused on aggregate timber supply and on individual harvest choices. But there has been little explicit analysis of the aggregate supply implications of observed individual behavior or the implications of a heterogeneous mix of owners, site qualities, and forest vintages. The objective of this topic area is to understand the aggregate implications of individual harvest choices among various categories of landowners and how these choices depend on the characteristics of the existing timber estate. Studies are in various stages of development, from the initiation of empirical analysis to the journal peer-review process.
