Quantitative Economic Impacts of Factors Influencing Forest Health

Description:

Forest insect and disease outbreaks generally occur with high frequency and intensity while anthropogenic factors affecting climate and forest health generally operate on longer temporal and larger spatial scales. Changes in forest health due to pest outbreaks and forest decline can cause economic impacts to forest landowners and the producers and consumers of timber and timber products. Models linking biophysical variables with economic variables are needed to help assess economic damages and the development of mitigation and protection strategies.
