On October 15th 1996 the Economics Unit unveiled its web site, offering the public 18 pages of content describing who we are, why we're here, and what we've been doing. Since that launch, content on the site has expanded to 180 HTML pages and climbing, and we've served up 12,000 web pages in 5,000 separate sessions to visitors in more than 20 countries around the world. Our usage report has more details. The server we set up to distribute our own web pages has hosted content for other organizations. Guest sites have included our sister Research Unit Biological Foundations of Southern Forest Productivity and Sustainability here at RTP, the Southern Research Station's first web site, the Ninth Biennial Southern Silvicultural Research Conference, and the Forest Health Protection, Southern Region site. All together our server has fielded nearly a quarter million hits and 78,000 pages since it's unveiling, and we've only just begun!
