As consistent with theory on optimal harvest age, stands that grow slower should be older, on average. We find that this is true for all ownership categories examined. Going from a fast-growing site class 2 to a slow-growing site class 5 and holding other variables held constant, stands are expected to be 11, 10, and 17 years on NIPF, industry, and government stands, respectively.
