Flat tax of $.50 per acre

Forest Stewardship Tax 1967 Amended 1991 57-57-01 to10

Objective

To provide a financial incentive to woodland owners which they can in turn invest in actively managing this acreage. In addition this program aims to preserve North Dakota’s diminishing forest resource.

Requirements

Minimum of 10 acres, 5 acres if planted

A stewardship plan approved by North Dakota Forest Service

Must renew application every 5 years

If use changes, property tax returns to Fair Market Value

Program Administration

State Department of Forestry issues forest classification order. County tax commissioners file application.
