Our Organization

The Forest Watershed Science Research Work Unit (RWU) is comprised of four research sites located across the southeastern U.S.  It is headquartered at the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory in Otto, NC.

The RWU is one of sixteen maintained under the Southern Research Station by the USDA Forest Service.

Research teams are located across the Southeast in physiographic subregions that facilitate forested watershed science research.  From the southern Appalachians, through the piedmont plateau, to the coastal sea, teams of scientist and our partners are conducting state of the knowledge research to provide answers to the questions and concerning about our water quality and supply, climate change, and quality concerns.
