Chinese Delegation Visits Stoneville
While at the lab the three visiting scientists met with, or heard presentations from, several CBHr scientists on a variety of topics, including Dr. Ted Leininger (overview of CBHR and various land management issues in the Delta), Dr. Paul Hamel and his assistant Carl Smith (wildlife response to afforestation), Dr. Emile Gardiner (afforestation approaches and an overview of the Sharkey Large-scale Afforestation Site), Dr. Brian Lockhart (pondberry flooding physiology and the flooding research facility), and Dr. Diane DeStevens (tree species suitability for afforestation in wetlands).
Dr. Zhou shared her research through a presentation ("Design of Wetland Parks with Eutrophicated Fishponds in Eastern China") as did Dr. Xu ("Restoration and Management Techniques of Freshwater Forested Wetland Ecosystems"), and Mr. Cheng showed a video of waterfowl on the refuge he manages.
