Typical southern bottomland hardwood stand in need of thinning. This mid-rotation stand in the Mississippi Delta is about 55 years old and is dominated by red oaks and sweetgum. Primary red oak species are Nuttall and willow oaks. Average diameter of sawtimber-sized red oaks is about 17 inches.
