Slide 6 of 8
The final class for sawtimber-sized trees is Cull Stock. These trees are incapable of meeting the desired product goals of management. This class includes trees that are unmerchantable because of species, extremely poor form, excessive defects on the bole, or severe damage from insects or disease. Cull Stock trees cannot currently be marketed as sawtimber, nor do they have the potential to be so in the future. Some Cull Stock trees may be marketed as pulpwood. This swamp chestnut oak is clearly hollow and contains no merchantable sawtimber.
