Excessive logging damage to the boles of residual trees can be a very serious problem associated with any intermediate
cutting operation in hardwood stands. The damage to this water oak was not caused by the skidder itself, but by the
log pulled by the skidder scraping up against the bole. This type of wound is typical, in that most logging wounds are
caused by the skidded log, not by the skidder itself.
