Instructions for papers:
The Proceedings of the 15th Biennial Southern
Silvicultural Research Conference will be published by the Southern Research
Station as a General Technical Report (GTR). The publication will consist of
published abstracts for all papers and posters. Within this GTR, full-length
papers will be published in a single-column format and will be available on a CD
included with the published abstracts, as well as through the TreeSearch web
site online. Posters will also be published on the CD using pdf files. Authors
of presented (oral) papers must submit a full paper to be included in the GTR.
Poster presenters may submit an abstract, a complete paper, or a pdf file of the
poster.
The deadline for submission of papers is January 30, 2009. Manuscripts
must be submitted as an original paper in hardcopy and electronic format, to:
Dr. Jim Guldin
USDA Forest Service
P.O. Box 1270
Hot Springs AR 71902
jguldin@fs.fed.us
The Station prefers manuscripts prepared with MS Word software and submitted on
a CD formatted for Windows or Macintosh systems. If MS Word is unavailable,
WordPerfect will be accepted if manuscript is saved in Rich Text Format (.rtf).
Indicate which software package is used. The page limit for manuscripts is six
(6) typeset pages, including tables and figures; this equates to 12
single-spaced pages, including tables and figures. If additional details are
needed regarding manuscript preparation, formatting, or any other questions
about submission, please contact Jim Guldin.
All manuscripts and posters must undergo a minimum of two peer reviews for
clarity and content before submission. Southern Research Station scientists
should use Station procedures for review of papers. In addition, all Southern
Research Station-authored manuscripts and posters will be routed for technical
review and biometrics review concurrently upon submission to the proceedings
compiler. Authors will be responsible for the content and accuracy of their
work.
Detailed instructions (pdf) are
available.
