USDA Forest Service
Student Employment Program
at Alabama A&M University

The USDA Forest Service is committed to ensuring that its future work force reflects
our nation's increasingly diverse labor force.  Thus, the National Multicultural Recruitment
Initiative Program at Alabama A&M University is one strategy the USDA Forest Service is
utilizing to realize that goal. The primary purpose of the program is to attract students who
traditionally have been under-represented in the field of forestry and other natural resource
sciences (e.g., botany, environmental and plant and soil sciences).  Financial awards of
$5,000 per year are available for each undergraduate student who meets the
eligibility criteria.  Additionally, the program provides paid work experience
and a portion of travel expenses to and from summer assignments.
