Pineville (LA) location:
The
Southern Research Station's laboratories are located in Pineville,
Louisiana at the Alexandria Forestry Center along with Kisatchie
National Forest Headquarters and State & Private Forestry.
This area is known as The Crossroads of Louisiana
because it is at the geographic center of the state, and is
easily reached by a major highway from all of the state's
metropolitan areas.
The area
is also readily accessible by air. The Alexandria International
Airport (AEX) is served by the commuter affiliates of several
major airlines, including: 1) ASA - The Delta Connection (from
Atlanta or Dallas), 2) Continental Express (from Houston), and
3) NorthWest Airlink
(from Memphis). The Alexandria Forestry Center is only a ten
minute drive from the airport.

Driving
Directions from the Alexandria International Airport:
Follow the signs to Interstate 49 South to Alexandria. From
I-49, take the first exit (MacArthur Drive) and stay on Highway
71 North. After crossing the Red River and just past Buhlow
Lake, the highway will fork. Take the left fork (Hwy. 71N).
The Alexandria Forestry Center is about 1.5 miles on the right,
directly across from the Veterans Administration Hospital.
